The Spirit searcheth all things. (1 Cor 2:10)
Story time: I wrote a letter to a friend, who lived out of state, about another person whom I was furious with. (forget the reason now – it’s been years) It was 3 pages on yellow legal paper all dripping with disdain for this person. A few week later, the person I was mad at told me to come to his apartment so I did. He sat calmly on the couch and started asking me questions about a letter. I quickly dismissed it. He kept pressing me because he had a strong sense that there was letter that I had written although he had no evidence. He wasn’t sure about anything or why he got this sense but he knew I was involved somehow. I was a little worried but I kept denying it.
He was visibly bothered by this whole thing. So we kept talking. While he was talking, I noticed he used specific words, or names, that I had used in the letter. Then he asked if I called him a specific term and I got really nervous. I thought ‘how could he know that?’ I played it off like he was imagining things. He then gave a couple more specific words that I used. I thought there is no way he could know about this letter because he didn’t even know about my out of state friend whom I write to. I never mentioned this person to him. So I kept denying it.
THEN…..he quoted phrases – not words but whole phrases and I KNEW that Yahweh had busted on me! I was shaking and terrified because I knew there was absolutely no way he could have known this yet he quoted much of my letter back to me verbatim! I said, “you know don’t you.” He said, “know what?” (he knew, he just wanted me to say it) So I told him everything. I don’t remember being that scared in my life! I was shaking so badly, I couldn’t drive for awhile. We hashed things out after that and he forgave me.
I was taught a very important lesson that day about secrets. I knew what the bible said but somehow I didn’t factor that into this situation. I figure the secrets of man’s hearts will be revealed at judgment and if I’m not judged among the sinners who are perishing, that it won’t be revealed but I found out that the sins of a believer are judged now in this life, not the afterlife. Well Yahweh set me straight on that! And what a wonderful thing He has done by exposing me! Since then, I have been very careful not to do that again.
So watch out for those secrets because they will turn around and bite you sooner or later!
